What is SEO

Lets start with Search Engines.

A search engine is a database. When entering a search term, relevant topics to the keyword are provided based on the way the information is “indexed” by the search engine. What this means is the internet is the world’s biggest library. What this also means is that we (web designers, SEO professionals, and other internet nerds) have no business telling anyone that their business can be listed as #1 on Page 1 of Google.

Top 10 Most Popular Search Engines in the World (Google Updated 2018)

  1. Google

  2. Bing

  3. Yahoo

  6. Baidu

  7. Wolframalpha

  8. DuckDuckGo

Which of these search engines have you used aside from Google and Bing? Did you even know they existed?

Optimizing all of your online marketing efforts in a way that will get your business found on search engines. Example: If your Facebook Business page is:, you need help. The overall goal is getting people to your website. This is done by maximizing your SEO via your website, social media, directories, and more; all kinds of stuff.

Search engines have what’s called algorithms. These are tiny mathematical clusters that pave the way for how things come up in the search engines. These algorithms are made several times a year and it’s mandatory for web developers and search engine optimizers to keep tabs on these things. We have to adjust our SEO efforts, etc. every time this happens to be able to do our jobs. I like a little challenge, but ultimately, not following these rules can deter your SEO situation.

When I say that keywords can be search including their relevant topics, I mean Google has created an algorithm that automatically pulls up other topics relevant to the keyword(s) you’ve searched for. It’s amazing how this works but I still hate math.

The only business that will be listed on the top of Page 1 by keywords and their relevant topics are those people that have “paid ads.”

Any SEO company or web developer that tells you they will get you to the very top of Page 1 on Google is not being truthful. The reality is the search engines are 100% in control. They get to decide. We don’t get to decide. You don’t get to decide.

Any SEO company that is providing your reports and you aren’t seeing any changes, there’s something missing from those reports.

RULE # 4

SEO is a long-term situation. It’s something that needs to be worked on constantly throughout your website, social media, etc. I help launch your SEO, but I also offer to maintain it.

Simply put, SEO is a super important part of your marketing strategy. It must be done. No ifs, ands or buts.

Rule #6

I’ve heard it all and seen it all so if you feel like you need help with SEO, please reach out to me. It’s what I do.
